Institute for Sustainable Forestry

Community Economic Development Program

ISF pioneered the establishment of a California native hardwood industry based on principles of restorative and sustainable forestry. ISF's hardwood development program, including the Wild Iris Forest Products Research and Development hardwood mill and kiln drying facility, refined and disseminated the best methods of milling, kiln drying and processing under-utilized local hardwood species. ISF continues to provide marketing, technical assistance, referrals, and strategic planning support to the Sustainable Hardwoods Industry Cluster.
