Kyle Keegan series

In 2021, local naturalist and restorationist Kyle Keegan gave a series of interviews about our local region and the species that inhabit it.

The first interview is about a completed ecological restoration project in the Salmon Creek watershed. Kyle obtained a grant for meadow restoration to reverse the impact of over 100 years of fire suppression. He explains the importance of meadow habitat to the overall forest mosaic, identifying the species that he re-introduced and those that came back on their own. (Aired 2/17/21)

In the second interview, Kyle makes the case for oak woodlands as our most highly biodiverse habitat. He provides his own recordings of several bird species along with their nesting and feeding habits and migration patterns. (Aired 6/30/21)

This final interview of Kyle from 2021 centers on animals in the mixed conifer forest. Kyle plays many of the recordings he made, including one of a nighttime bear fight over a carcass. (Aired 11/17/21)
