Elderberry Harvest with Liz and Kim on KMUD

  • Institute for Sustainable Forestry PO Box 80 Miranda, CA 95553 United States (map)

On August 29th, Liz Harwood returns to KMUD (91.1 FM) with master herbalist Kim Phelps, who can teach us all about what to do with all those elderberries that are coming on in our gardens and woods! Liz harvested and froze 17 pounds of black elderberries from one bush in Benbow, and plans to harvest more before trekking up to Kim’s place in New Harris to process them. Our local blue elderberries ripen later, which means you won’t have so many berries to deal with at once if you’re a small-scale processor. Post your questions and comments in the Comments section under the recording on the Journalism Project page after the show. Recipes will follow later!
