Menominee Community Forest

After 150 years of exemplary forestry, this Wisconsin tribe’s FSC-certified forest is still a model for sustainable practices, producing higher-quality timber while increasing the vitality of its trees. But the economic pressure of being surrounded by a culture based on extraction is taking its toll.

This community forest exemplifies the working forest concept embraced in Usal Forest, northern Mendocino County, by RFFI (Redwood Forest Foundation, Inc.).
